RIO LINDA, Calif. (PSN) — Fire crews with the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District stopped the forward progress of a vegetation fire Friday afternoon that burned along railroad tracks between West Elkhorn Boulevard and Del Paso Road in the Rio Linda area.
The fire caused damage to a railroad bridge, prompting Union Pacific Railroad officials to shut down the tracks while evaluating the extent of the damage.
This afternoon, firefighters remained on scene working to fully contain hot spots and assess any additional hazards in the area.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
