SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A man hospitalized after an early-morning stabbing near 21st and K streets in Midtown Sacramento is in stable condition, according to official information released Sunday by the Sacramento Police Department.

Officer Allison Smith, a Sacramento police public information officer, told PSN that officers responded shortly after 2 a.m. to the 1100 block of 21st Street for a report of a person who had been stabbed.

The adult male victim was transported to an area hospital and is currently in stable condition, Smith said.

Police have not released any suspect information.

The official update follows preliminary information reported earlier Sunday morning. At approximately 2:07 a.m., officers were initially dispatched to the area following reports of a possible shooting. Police radio traffic later indicated officers had located a stabbing victim.

During the initial response, officers established a large crime scene around 21st and K streets. According to preliminary radio reports, the perimeter was expanded multiple times as officers located apparent blood trails in the surrounding area.

Sacramento police have not released additional information regarding the circumstances leading up to the stabbing or whether any arrests have been made.

​​BREAKING | Stabbing Investigation Shuts Down 21st and K Streets

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (PSN)— Sacramento police are investigating a stabbing early Sunday morning near 21st and K streets in Midtown Sacramento.

At approximately 2:07 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, Sacramento Police Department officers responded to the area following initial reports of a possible shooting. Officers arriving at the scene subsequently determined the incident involved a stabbing, according to preliminary police radio reports.

According to preliminary reports, at least one victim suffered two stab wounds to the chest and was transported to an area hospital. The victim's condition was not immediately known.

The investigation has resulted in a significant closure around 21st and K streets, extending approximately two blocks in multiple directions.

The crime scene was expanded several times as officers located apparent blood trails in the surrounding area. Officers were also investigating whether there could be additional victims, according to preliminary police radio reports.

Crime scene tape was removed, and the roadways were reopened at about 4:40 A.M.

The circumstances leading up to the stabbing and information regarding a possible suspect were not immediately available.
