A commercial truck hauling walnuts overturned Thursday night along eastbound Interstate 80 near Antelope Road, prompting a hazardous materials response from the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District.
According to Sacramento Metro Fire spokesperson Capt. Mark Nunez, firefighters arrived to find the commercial vehicle on its side with diesel fuel leaking from the truck. Crews worked to secure the scene, contain the fuel spill and prevent additional hazards to the roadway and surrounding area.
The driver was evaluated by paramedics at the scene and released. No other injuries were reported.
The Citrus Heights Police Department is handling the investigation into the rollover.
Authorities are reminding motorists to drive according to road and weather conditions and to ensure all occupants are properly restrained with seatbelts.
