Moments ago, officers from the Sacramento Police Department received an alert, known as a POD (Police Observation Device) Activation. It was alerting them that a wanted stolen vehicle had just passed through the intersection of 16th Street and W Street, heading northbound.

The vehicle was described as a 2018, Volkswagen, Bug that was gray in color. The same vehicle hit the same POD last night, but officers were unable to locate it in the area at that time.

After the alert this afternoon, an officer spotted the vehicle going north on 16th at Capitol Avenue. Waiting for additional units to arrive in the area, they were able to execute a felony stop on the vehicle on J Street at 7th Street.

The solo occupant of the vehicle was compliant and taken into custody without incident.
