SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A suspect is in custody following an overnight barricade that prompted a large law enforcement response at the Capitol Park Hotel in downtown Sacramento.
According to the Sacramento Police Department, officers responded just before 12:45 a.m. Saturday to reports of a stabbing in the 1100 block of 9th Street.
Responding officers located an adult female victim suffering from minor injuries. She was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Police identified the suspect and began searching the building, eventually tracing him to his apartment inside the hotel. The suspect then barricaded himself inside the apartment, prompting an hours-long standoff.
Officers spent several hours attempting to persuade the suspect to surrender peacefully. When those efforts were unsuccessful, officers forced entry into the apartment shortly after 4:45 a.m. and took the suspect into custody.
The suspect was transported to an area hospital for treatment and is now in the process of being booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail.
The Sacramento Police Department has not yet released the identities of those involved or announced any pending charges. The investigation remains ongoing.
