CARMICHAEL, Calif. (PSN) — A 35-year-old woman is in custody after leading Sacramento County Sheriff's Office deputies on a pursuit in a stolen box truck through Carmichael late Saturday afternoon, during which the suspect vehicle collided with both a sheriff's patrol vehicle and a California Highway Patrol vehicle.
According to Sgt. Ed Igoe of the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office, deputies were notified at approximately 4:30 p.m. of a stolen box truck in the area of Garfield Avenue and Marconi Avenue.
Deputies located the vehicle, but the driver failed to yield, prompting a pursuit.
During the pursuit, deputies successfully deployed spike strips to disable the vehicle. Authorities said the suspect continued driving and struck both a Sacramento County Sheriff's Office patrol vehicle and a CHP patrol vehicle before the stolen truck came to a stop.
A sheriff's K-9 was deployed, and the driver—a 35-year-old woman—was taken into custody without further incident.
No information regarding injuries to law enforcement personnel or the suspect was immediately available.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges are expected related to the pursuit, vehicle theft, and collisions with law enforcement vehicles.
