SACRAMENTO, Calif. (PSN) — A homicide investigation is underway after a man was fatally shot inside a business along Howe Avenue late Saturday morning, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office.
At approximately 11:20 a.m. Saturday, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office Communications Center received reports of a shooting inside a business in the 1000 block of Howe Avenue.
Deputies responded immediately and entered the business, where they located a 31-year-old man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest. Deputies began life-saving measures and requested fire and emergency medical personnel. Despite those efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to investigators, preliminary findings indicate the suspect fled the area in a vehicle before deputies arrived.
Detectives assigned to the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau responded to the scene and have assumed the investigation. Authorities have not released information regarding a possible motive, suspect description, or vehicle description.
In an update released Sunday morning, Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Sgt. Edward Igoe said detectives continue actively working the case but had no additional information available for release as of 9:13 a.m.
The identity of the victim has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
