LODI, Calif. (PSN) — An armed suspect was killed in an officer-involved shooting Monday morning after police responding to a Lodi McDonald’s encountered gunfire inside the restaurant and found an employee who had been shot, according to reports.
The Lodi Police Department said dispatchers received a report of an armed suspect inside the McDonald’s at 200 W. Lodi Ave. at approximately 9:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 24.
When officers arrived, they heard gunfire coming from inside the restaurant and discovered an employee suffering from a gunshot wound.
Officers moved toward the sound of gunfire and encountered the armed suspect, at which point an officer-involved shooting occurred, according to reports.
Police secured the scene and requested emergency medical personnel. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
The employee who was shot was transported to a local hospital and was reported to be in stable condition.
Police identified the suspect as Jonhatan Anguiano, 29. Authorities did not immediately release additional details about what led to the initial shooting, the type of firearm involved, how many officers fired their weapons or whether any officers were injured.
The shooting is being investigated under the San Joaquin County Officer Involved Critical Incident Protocol. The investigation involves the Lodi Police Department, San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office and California Department of Justice.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
