SACRAMENTO, Calif. (PSN)— A 16-year-old boy was shot and killed early Sunday morning in Sacramento, prompting a homicide investigation by the Sacramento Police Department.
According to Sacramento Police Department spokesperson Officer Allison Smith, officers responded just before 12:30 a.m. to the 500 block of Wisconsin Avenue following reports of a shooting.
When officers arrived, they located a 16-year-old male suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Officers immediately began life-saving measures; however, the juvenile victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Due to the circumstances surrounding the incident, detectives from the Sacramento Police Department's Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Investigators responded to assume control of the investigation.
Investigators have not released information regarding a suspect, possible motive, or the events leading up to the shooting.
The identity of the victim has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
