Sacramento, CA- A man was arrested in Sacramento this afternoon, wanted for sexually abusing a child in Utah.
Around 1 p.m. Monday, Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies and California Highway Patrol officers responded to the Sacramento 49er Travel Plaza on El Centro Road. Information had been sent from a outside agency that a wanted subject was at that location. The subject was located and safely taken into custody without incident, according to Tess Deterding, spokeswoman for the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office.
According to Roxeanne Vainuku, a spokeswoman for the West Valley City, Utah Police Department, the man is 52-year-old Michael Travers.
Vainuku said Travers was wanted on suspicion of sexually abusing an eight-year-old girl in a West Valley City motel room.
Vainuku said West Valley City Police Department received a tip that Travers was a truck driver and was in the Sacramento area. West Valley City law enforcement contacted Sacramento law enforcement and were able to work together and arrest Travers this afternoon, according to Vainuku.
Travers will be charged with four counts of aggravated sex abuse of a child, and four counts of exploitation according to police.
Vainuku says a female suspect wanted in the case was also arrested earlier today in Pima County, Arizona. The female suspect, identified as 32-year-old Kristin Milsap, was arrested after being identified as a wanted person during a traffic stop and records check, according to Vainuku.
Milsap will also be charged on four counts of aggravated sex abuse of a child, according to police.
Vainuku says Travers is known to Milsap and the victim, but the relationship between all three has not been released. The abuse was reported in April by the mother of the victim, according to Vainuku.
Travers is a truck driver and is known to pass through Utah during the course of his job; Milsap at one time lived in Utah, but currently lives in Texas, according to Vainuku.
