At approximately 4:30AM today, the Sacramento Fire Department responded to a reported commercial structure fire on the 3900 Block of 43rd Ave in an unincorporated section of Sacramento County under contract for fire service with the City of Sacramento

Upon arrival, Engine 56 found heavy fire from an upstairs unit of a four unit apartment complex. A female tenant of the unit on fire stated that her roommate was still inside the unit and that a neighbor had helped in trying to rescue him but had to abandon efforts after the heat and smoke began to overtake him.

The fire was contained by firefighters to the unit of origin and no other injuries were reported. The fire remained at single alarm with over 30 firefighters to mitigate the emergency. A total of nine people were displaced from this fire, ( six adults & three children), and assisted by Red Cross.
