SACRAMENTO, Calif. (PSN)— An officer-involved shooting was reported in Old North Sacramento near El Camino Avenue and Boxwood Street, behind a Carl’s Jr., according to preliminary information gathered from police radio traffic.
Authorities have established a large perimeter in the area, with streets blocked off for approximately one to two blocks in all directions. The Sacramento Police Department is assisting with scene security and traffic control.
A suspect driving a black Mazda allegedly fired at officers with the California Highway Patrol, prompting officers to return fire. The suspect was fatally shot at the scene, according to initial radio reports.
The California Highway Patrol is the lead agency in the investigation.
