SACRAMENTO, Calif. (PSN) — Sacramento police are investigating a fatal shooting that left two people dead Monday evening in the 3800 block of Northgate Boulevard. Officers responded to reports of gunfire just after 6 p.m. and discovered an adult male and an adult female, both suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

Despite officers' attempts to render lifesaving aid, both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

"There is currently no suspect information," the Sacramento Police Department stated in a media release.

Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators have taken over the investigation. "They will be processing the scene, canvassing the area, and interviewing witnesses," the release said. The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear.

The identities of the victims will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office after their next of kin have been notified.

Police are urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward. The area remains an active crime scene and is expected to stay closed for several hours as the investigation continues.
