Around 10:10 p.m. Saturday, Sacramento police officers and paramedics responded to the intersection of 33rd Street and 12th Avenue for a reported multi-vehicle crash.

When units arrived, they found three vehicles blocking 33rd Street, just south of 12th Avenue. Upon further investigation, units found multiple patients suffering from major injuries. One victim was found trapped inside one of the cars, and was declared deceased by paramedics.

Community chaplains were called to assist a family member of the deceased who was on scene.

The Sacramento Police Department's Major Collisions Investigations Unit was called to the scene to investigate the collision. 12th Avenue between 32nd and 34th Streets, and 33rd Street between 11th and 14th Avenues was shut down until roughly 3 a.m. when the scene was cleared.
