​SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A suspect was taken into custody early Monday morning following an hourslong standoff in South Sacramento that began with a reported domestic violence incident, authorities said.
Officers with the Sacramento Police Department responded just before 9:30 p.m. Sunday to the 3800 block of Franklin Boulevard after receiving reports of a domestic violence incident, according to police spokesperson Allison Smith.
The suspect, believed to be armed, barricaded inside a residence, prompting a large police response that included SWAT officers and crisis negotiators. Authorities worked through the night in an effort to resolve the situation peacefully.
Police said the victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries during the incident. No other individuals were believed to be inside the home with the suspect.
After several hours of negotiations, the suspect was safely detained just after 5 a.m., bringing the standoff to a close.
No additional details about the suspect or potential charges were immediately released. The investigation remains ongoing.
