SACRAMENTO, Calif. (PSN) — Sacramento Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Sunday morning in the 1500 block of Orlando Way. Officers responded to the scene shortly after 3 a.m. following reports of gunfire in the area.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a male adult suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. Despite their immediate efforts to perform lifesaving measures, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Officers began performing lifesaving measures," the Sacramento Police Department stated in a media release. "Despite their efforts, the victim was pronounced deceased on scene."

Two additional adult victims were also injured in the incident. One was found nearby with non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. A third victim, also suffering from non-life-threatening injuries, later self-transported to a hospital for treatment.

Due to the nature of the incident, homicide detectives and crime scene investigators have taken over the investigation. "They will be processing the scene, canvassing the area, and interviewing witnesses," according to the release. The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.

The identity of the deceased will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office pending notification of next of kin.
