​SACRAMENTO, Calif. (PSN) — A motorcyclist died following a solo crash late Friday night along the southbound 65th Street Expressway in Sacramento, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

Officers responded just after 11 p.m. to the area near 21st Avenue after receiving reports of a single motorcycle collision, police spokesperson Anthony Gamble said in a preliminary statement.

Emergency personnel from the Sacramento Fire Department also responded to the scene, which is located between 21st Avenue and Fruitridge Road in the Colonial Manor neighborhood.

Authorities initially said they were working to confirm the rider’s condition. In an update released Saturday morning, police said the motorcyclist died as a result of the crash.

Due to the circumstances, detectives from the department’s Major Collision Investigations Unit, along with crime scene investigators, responded to take over the investigation.

No additional details, including the identity of the motorcyclist, have been released. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
