​SACRAMENTO, Calif. (PSN) — Four people were shot Saturday evening near Howe Park in the Arden-Arcade area after deputies moved to disperse a large, unauthorized gathering, authorities said.

According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called around 6:30 p.m. to Howe Park for reports of individuals possibly carrying concealed weapons. A second caller reported a possible fight and people running from the area. Air support searched the park but did not locate any active disturbance.

Officials said several hundred people had gathered at the park. At the request of park officials, deputies began clearing the area, surrounding the park with emergency lights activated and issuing public address announcements for about 15 minutes directing people to leave.

During that effort, deputies heard approximately 20 to 25 gunshots in the vicinity. People in the park fled, and deputies located four individuals suffering from gunshot wounds.

All four victims were transported to area hospitals and were reported to be in stable condition, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Investigators have not released information about any suspects or what led to the shooting.

Detectives and crime scene investigators remained on scene Saturday night, and the investigation is ongoing.
