Sacramento Police Department Press Release

On Thursday, October 18, 2018 at 4:38 a.m., officers from the Sacramento Police Department were called to the area of Indian Lane and Wah Avenue regarding a shooting. The caller advised a male had been shot.

Officers arrived on scene and located a male with a gunshot wound. The male was transported by the Sacramento Fire Department to a local area hospital where he is expected to survive. Officers located an additional victim with a gunshot wound along the railroad track east of the intersection of Indian Lane and Wah Avenue. The second victim was declared deceased on scene by the Sacramento Fire Department.

Due to the crime scene location, train service, including Regional Transit Light Rail, Amtrak and Union Pacific Railroad were impacted. Trains were not able to travel between Florin Road and 47th Avenue. Regional Transit placed a bus bridge to assist riders impacted by the closure.

Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene to take over the investigation. At this time, a motive for the shooting has not been determined. This incident does appear to be isolated and there is no current threat to the surrounding area.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office once next of kin has been notified.

Detectives are asking for the community’s help in providing any information they may have regarding this incident.
